Great News

2006 is shaping up to be another great year for recreational
anglers. “We’ve had increasing salmon returns and spectacular fishing for the past four
years, and it looks like more of the same this summer”,
the latest Salmon Update from Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
According to the 2005 Salmon Update, chinook and coho returns are expected to be good
or stronger than those seen over the past three
years. These returns are expected to provide excellent recreational fishing opportunities.
While there is still a need to protect some specific wild coho stocks on the South Coast,
generally, coho and chinook returns to the West Coast of Vancouver Island are
rebounding and fishing opportunities throughout the South Coast are expected to be
similar to those experienced in 2005.
